Alex was born and raised in Chattanooga, graduating from The McCallie School. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, he pursued his J.D. at Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in Montgomery. After graduation, Alex moved back home to Chattanooga and began his legal career at Tom Bible Law. After which, he co-founded and was the managing partner of Burd Raulston, PLLC. Alex has since started his own practice, The Burd Law Firm, PLLC, specializing in estate planning, real estate, civil litigation, and corporate representation.

Throughout his practice, Alex has represented clients in both federal and state courts. He enjoys assisting clients with their estate and long-term planning. He has helped several businesses get started on the right path during their formation process. As the former Executive Director of the MaryEllen Locher Scholarship Foundation, Alex has the experience, and finds it very rewarding, to help clients achieve their philanthropic dreams of forming nonprofits. He has represented clients in automobile accidents and wrongful death cases, helping clients recover millions of dollars. He has also successfully defended lawsuits against clients in various state and federal courts, including a successful defense of an appeal in the Tennessee Court of Appeals. He has helped clients discharge and negotiate out millions of dollars of debt, mostly in federal bankruptcy courts, but in state courts as well. Throughout his experience, Alex has learned that the nuances of contract drafting and negotiation are often the crux of a good or bad outcome. As such, he strives to help clients sort through the legal jargon in documents and help them understand exactly what they are signing and how to better protect themselves.

Alex’s goal as your attorney is to provide you with the care and attention you deserve, while zealously advocating for your rights. Whether you’re dealing with an unfortunate situation or simply needing some legal advice, Alex understands that its sometimes daunting to approach an attorney about your issues. He understands that, while attorneys deal with these parts of life on a daily basis, this may be one of the few times you will ever consult an attorney. As such, he strives to make this experience as quick, easy, and stress free as possible.

Outside of the office, Alex enjoys hunting, golfing, watching Alabama football and Braves baseball, and spending time with his wife and kids. He and his family are members at First-Centenary United Methodist Church.
